Energy and sewer repair bills proposed for assessment

Saint Paul file RES 26-1797, before the Saint Paul City Council. Still to be decided as of 2026-11-18.

Latest action: Agenda Ready

What it does

Your property could be billed for emergency sewer work. The city spent money on emergency sewer repairs and energy bill help for certain properties; those property owners will get bills if the council votes to approve the charges on February 17, 2027.

The bigger picture

Assessment lets city recover costs from affected properties. Instead of spreading repair costs across all city budgets, the city assigns them directly to the properties that needed the emergency work, so other taxpayers don't bear that cost.

What to watch

Only certain properties will receive the assessment bills. The city will assess only the properties that got the emergency sewer repairs or energy bill help; other property owners will not be charged, which means the full cost lands on a smaller group.
