Saint Paul file RES 26-1546, before the Saint Paul City Council. Passed as of 2026-09-09.
Latest action: Passed
Fire Department can call on state rescue experts When a building collapses, trench caves in, or someone is trapped, St. Paul firefighters can now request trained specialists from Minnesota Task Force One to help locate and extract people alive.
Neighboring cities benefit from shared rescue capacity The joint agreement pools resources across multiple fire departments, so the Task Force can deploy to emergencies anywhere in the region and other cities can also request St. Paul's trained rescue personnel.
Costs and staff demands for training and deployment unclear The agreement does not spell out how St. Paul will fund ongoing training, equipment, or pay firefighters who respond to out-of-city rescues, or whether the city bears any portion of the Task Force's operating budget.
