Property owner gains freedom to sell or develop their home. The owner of 556 Gotzian St. can now sell, rent, or change their property without the affordable housing requirement that was previously attached to it.
Saint Paul loses one affordable unit from its housing stock. The city's pool of permanently affordable homes shrinks by one unit, making it harder to meet housing goals for low-income residents in Ward 7.
Future residents may not afford to rent or buy there. Once the affordable housing requirement ends, the property may be rented or sold at market rates, pricing out households that previously could have lived there.
