One city inspector gets free conference trip Shawn Collette, Minneapolis's lead plumbing and mechanical inspector, will attend the IAPMO national conference in California (September 13–17, 2026) with the donation covering his costs.
City gains updated plumbing codes and industry standards The inspector will return with new training and connections to national plumbing standards, which could improve how the city reviews and inspects building systems.
Benefit limited to one city employee, not broader staff Only one inspector receives the conference opportunity; other city plumbing and mechanical staff do not attend, so training benefits may not spread widely across the department.
Passage of Resolution accepting a donation from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) for Shawn Collette, Lead Mechanical and Piping Inspector, and President of the Minnesota Chapter for IAPMO, to attend the annual IAPMO conference in Universal City, CA, from September 13 - 17, 2026.
